Hermanus is celebrated globally as one of the finest land‑based whale‑watching locations. From June to November, Southern Right Whales grace the bay, often coming remarkably close to shore. The scenic cliff path offers superb vantage points, while boat‑based tours departing from the harbour provide an intimate, unforgettable encounter with these magnificent giants.


Shark Cage Diving

For guests seeking a thrilling, once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience, shark cage diving in nearby Gansbaai offers the rare opportunity to observe Great White Sharks in their natural environment. Whether you choose to enter the cage or watch from the deck, it is an extraordinary adventure.


Hemel‑en‑Aarde Wine Route

Just 8 km from Dolphin House lies the renowned Hemel‑en‑Aarde Valley, home to more than 15 award‑winning wine estates. The valley is famed for its elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, exceptional restaurants, and breathtaking mountain‑and‑vineyard scenery — a must‑visit for wine lovers.


Walking & Hiking

The cliff path, only 50 metres from Dolphin House, offers a serene coastal walk with sweeping ocean views.
Nearby Fernkloof Nature Reserve provides a network of mountain trails, showcasing the region’s extraordinary fynbos biodiversity. Routes range from gentle strolls to more challenging hikes, each offering spectacular vistas.
